What is Period Z On-Rental Insurance?
Period Z is our specialized on-rental insurance option designed for private/direct rentals. It allows you to rent your vehicle outside of traditional platforms (like Turo), using your own rental agreements and processes.
How is Period Z On-Rental Insurance different from Period X?
Period X covers rentals done strictly through approved platforms (Turo & TripCity). Period Z On-Rental extends coverage to off-platform rentals, including private renters, your own website, or local clients you contract with directly.
Do I need Period X?
Yes, a Period X policy is required to have Period Z On-Rental Insurance and must maintain good standing.
What types of rentals does Period Z On-Rental Insurance cover?
Direct/private rentals, rentals through your own platform or website, rentals to local customers using your own rental contracts, and rentals to businesses or drivers (e.g., Uber/Lyft drivers using your car) if allowed by state guidelines.
Do you set up the rentals for me?
No. You manage the rental process yourself via our Portal. Period Z simply provides on-rental insurance coverage for those rentals.
Are there any documentation requirements?
Yes. You must use proper rental agreements/contracts, confirm renter identity and license validity, and maintain accurate rental records.
Can I still rent on Turo or other platforms if I use Period Z?
Yes. Having a Period Z policy still allows you to continue using Period X, Turo or TripCity. Period Z simply gives you more flexibility and additional rental channels.
What happens if I rent off-platform without Period Z?
Off-platform rentals are not covered under Period X. Renting privately without Period Z On-Rental Insurance can result in denied claims, policy cancellation, or non-renewal.
Do I need GPS?
Yes, you will not be able to start rentals without tracking actively showing.
What if my renter gets into an accident?
Provide your rental agreement, telematics or trip documentation, and renter ID/verifications. Report the claim promptly. The claim will be handled the same way as platform-based claims.
